Outdoor Summer Fun in Elk Grove Village

Summer in Illinois can get pretty hot. While Willow Crossing Apartments has a pool for you to enjoy (with an oversized sundeck!), sometimes you want a little more adventure. Luckily, you’ll find many options around Elk Village for when you want to cool off away from home.

Visit Rainbow Falls Waterpark

Opening now for the 2019 season, Rainbow Falls is one of the best places to go for waterslides, picnic areas, and pools! From the leisure pool Sunfish Bay to the three-story fun house Pelican Peak, they have an array of attractions for any mood. If you’re feeling especially adventurous, you may even want to explore Iguana Island: a “remote paradise” with slides and fun houses.

Head Out on Busse Lake

If you’re more interested in being on the water than in it, then the Busse Lake Boating Center offers summer boat rentals! Busse Lake has a 20-mile shoreline and loads to explore, so plan ahead for the whole day. If you can fit drinks and sandwiches (safely) in your boat, you may as well have a nice picnic on the water. Paddle your way over the lake in a canoe or kayak and enjoy a relaxing day on the water.

Go Adventuring at Busse Woods

Busse Woods offers a brief reprieve from the summer sun. Residing alongside Busse Lake, it’s a perfect choice if you want to spend the day outdoors but don’t want to be on the water. The paved trail is an eight-mile loop, winding walkers and bikers alike along the lake and through a mix of sunshine and wooded shade. It even connects to the Salt Creek Greenway trail as part of a “210-mile integrated trail network in northeast Illinois.”

Our apartments are nestled in lush greenery and provide the perfect spot to relax when you’d rather have a day at home! If you haven’t joined our community yet, then schedule a tour. We’d love to hear from you!
