When the sun is out, we all want to get out and enjoy it. There are some beautiful Elk Grove Village walking trails to enjoy nature and soak up the sun within a few miles of your Elk Grove Village apartment.

Paul Douglas Forest Preserve

Grassy Ridge Meadow and the Paul Douglas Trail at Paul Douglas Forest Preserve are excellent places to stretch your legs. All public restrooms are closed, and patrons are expected to follow safe social distancing guidelines, including wearing a mask. The Paul Douglas Trails is a paved 8.6-mile trail suitable for walkers, hikers, bikers, and leashed-dogs. The trail is open every day from sunrise to sunset.

Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary

While the playgrounds remain closed, the trails at Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary are open to the public. But in order to ensure the safety of all hikers/walkers everyone should adhere to the CDC’s guidelines on social distancing. This is an excellent place to walk and appreciate nature. The trails are open from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm, seven days a week.

Busse Woods

Busse Woods, more formally known as Ned Brown Preserve, is a great place for a long relaxing walk through the woods. The 13-mile paved path makes your experience long and comfortable. The parking lot is currently closed on weekends and all public restrooms are closed. The water fountains are also closed, so remember to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated as you walk through the beautiful upland forests of Busse Woods.  The trails at Busse Woods are open every day from sunrise to sunset.
